How to Reduce Distracted Driving

Read Your Road Map

Distractions can come in all forms. One way to stay focused on the road is to know your route before you go. Look at your road map online or on a physical map, and use a GPS if necessary. Confident driving will help you limit distractions like looking for an unfamiliar street sign and checking the map while driving.

Take a Walk

April 6, 2022, is National Walking Day, a day to remember and enjoy the benefits of taking a walk. Walking, one of the most natural forms of physical exercise, is one way to help you get from point A to point B. If you have a chance, take a walk to your local store and enjoy the health benefits.

Invest in Your Health

Speaking of health, one should also invest in good mental and physical health. Do not drive under strong emotions and stay calm on the road. Be sure to eat well, stay hydrated, and sleep well to prevent fatigue or fainting while operating a vehicle. When you feel well, you can drive better.

Slow Down

Good driving practices are worth it! Remember to stay alert, slow down around work zones, and avoid speeding and tailgating. Along with distracted driving, speeding and following too close behind were the other two top causes of work zone-related crashes.
