Reliable Contracting Company, Inc., a large construction company in Maryland, headed to 100 years in business, has a position available for a On the Road Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic based out of our Annapolis Junction location.
This position is responsible for the Maintenance of Heavy Equipment on our many construction job sites throughout central Maryland. This is a permanent, full-time, day shift position. Some nights and weekends may be necessary during our busy season.

The On the Road Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic is an hourly-rated skilled position whose primary function is performing a variety of skilled maintenance tasks involving minor and major mechanical service to heavy equipment, paving & milling equipment and other power-driven equipment. They should be able to examine, diagnose, locate, and repair mechanical issues.
Duties and Responsibilities for On the Road Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic
- Performs minor and major repairs of equipment include wheel/ track vehicles, asphalt equipment, including but not limited to asphalt pavers, rollers, Milling machine, material transfer machine and skid steers, both field and shop service
- Accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals.
- Perform inspection, diagnosis and repair including but not limited to electrical, suspension, wheels, hubs, and hydraulic systems.
- Understands and follows technical manuals, lube orders, electrical and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair.
- Performs minor and major repairs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installation of assemblies and installation of components.
Knowledge and Experience
- This position is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a heavy diesel equipment mechanic.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), or trade school preferred.
- 5 (five) years prior experience working as a mechanic.
- Knowledge of all aspects of repair, including but not limited to engine, computer, transmission, clutch, brakes, etc.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of equipment the operation such as dirt-moving, pipework, and asphalt paving.
- Cat ET & SIS, JD link, Pro SIS (Volvo) experience.
- Basic skills in Oxy/ Acetylene torch.
- Driver’s license and DOT card
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

- The minimum age requirement is 23 due to the hazardous nature of work.
