Accounts Payable Specialist

Reliable Contracting Company, Inc., headed toward our 100th year of business in the state of Maryland, has an opening for an Accounts Payable Specialist based out of our Gambrills Maryland location.

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing vendor invoices, subcontractor pay applications, employee reimbursements, and other payments in support of Reliable Contracting projects and company operations. This position offers a strong opportunity for growth within the company

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, code, and enter vendor invoices and subcontracts into the accounting system.
  • Match invoices with purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documents.
  • Verify proper approvals and job cost coding.
  • Assist in the preparation and process of check runs and ACH payments.
  • Manage vendor compliance – help maintain W-9’s and certificates of insurance.
  • Assist with 1099 year-end reporting.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoice/payment status and resolve discrepancies with vendors, project managers, and field staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Accounts Payable Specialist

  • 1-3 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Excel required.
  • Experience with other areas of accounting (A/R, payroll, G/L) a plus.
  • Experience with software conversion a plus.
  • Associates Degree a plus.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reliable attendance. Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable Contracting is a drug-free company. Applicants will be required to take a post-hire drug screen and physical exam if offered a position.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $43,500-$48,500 annually
