At Reliable, we truly value the idea that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. No business has a future without our younger generations learning the skills necessary to carry on our trades. That is why we make the effort to include as many students and teachers as we can in our community outreach programs. Students need to see the variety of jobs available to them and learn more about how to get from education to the work force. As we have done in years past, Reliable recently hosted “Partners in Education,” a group of teachers from all over the state of Maryland, for an in-depth presentation of our company. The purpose of the presentation was to give an insight to our local educators so they can better prepare their students for the workforce.
We presented the various divisions and fields of work that encompass Reliable, from site development to asphalt production to the group. We also provided insight on the various areas of educational study that are most applicable to our fields of business, so that these educators can better guide their students to a field of study that will best benefit them in their lives after school. We reviewed what skills are needed for the various positions, from skilled laborers to project managers and estimators. It’s important that students know that they have many options when going into the working world. College, tech school, and apprenticeships are all great opportunities for students who show promise for the jobs that we offer – we want to make sure that they know that there are many options for advancing in life!
The presentation was followed by a chauffeured and guided tour of our Waugh Chapel asphalt production plants and surface mining operation. During the tour, we had the opportunity to explain the process of producing asphalt and how the plant operates.
